Dorothea Reeves was born Sept. 13, 1924, and died on July 7, 2002. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. ==================== The Chickasha Express-Star 9 July 2002 DOROTHEA REEVES Funeral service for Dorothea Reeves, 77, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Dorothea Reeves was born September 13, 1924, in Wirt, Oklahoma, to Coy Mae Spence and Andrew Jackson Spence, and died Sunday, July 7, 2002, following a brief illness. She and Earl Reeves were married in Chickasha on July 11, 1948. Dorothea served as a bookkeeper for several businesses in the Chickasha area until she and Earl purchased The Cyril News in 1981. Together, they proudly operated the newspaper and associated commercial print shop in Cyril from 1981 until 1998, when they sold the newspaper. From 1998 until January 2002, they continued to solely run the commercial print shop. They retired early 2002. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers: Vernon, Thurston, Bill, Richard and Don Spence; 2 sisters: Alta Linton and Jacques Coleman. Survivors include: husband; Earl Reeves, of the home; 1 daughter; Earlene Mitchell of Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Lynn Reeves of Lakeville, Minnesota; 4 grandchildren, of whom she was so very proud: Kerry Horn of Oklahoma City, Kelly Lane of Houston, Texas, Jason Reeves and Dan Reeves of Lakeville, Minnesota. She had 4 great grandchildren where were the light of her eye: Payton Horn of Oklahoma City, Veronica and Andrew Lane of Houston, Texas, Halley Morical Reeves of Lakeview, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothea's family would especially like to thank all the people of Good Shepherd Hospice who cared for her so compassionately over the past few months. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
