Wake service will be at Holy Name Catholic Church, Chickasha, at 7 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2001. Mary Angela Ross died at her home in Chickasha on May 3, 2001, after an illness of several months. Mary was born December 5, 1922, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Val and Ella Schott. She attended schools in Stillwater through college at Oklahoma A&M, where she met Joe Roy Ross of Chickasha. They married May 2, 1943. When Joe returned from wartime service in Italy, they made their home in Chickasha where they have reared ten children and been blessed with twenty-three grandchildren, including Gayle Ross, who died of leukemia February 13. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Val, and her granddaughter Gayle. Mary is survived by her husband Joe of the home, son Fr. Joe Ross of Oklahoma City, daughter Barbara A. Andrews and her husband Jerry of Oklahoma City, son Dr. James M. Ross and his wife Jane of Ouray, Colorado, son Dr. William B. Ross and his wife Patricia of Tulsa, daughter, Mary Kathryn Shaw and her husband Ted of Ninnekah, daughter Stephanie L. Edmond and her husband Rick of Stafford, Virginia, daughter Deborah J. Morse of Edmond, son Jeffrey C. Ross of Okarche, son Henry P. Ross and his wife Alison of Edmond, and son Val R. Ross and his wife Terri of Oklahoma City; and grandchildren Shawn, Michelle and Scott Andrews, Amy, Jonathan and Joseph Ross, David and John Ross, Amanda, Sam and Tyler Shaw, Eric and Jenny Edmond, Kyle and Daniel Morse, Alexandra, Andrew and Caleb Ross, and Kasey, Abigail, Adam and Matthew Ross. Mary is also survived by her brother A.J. Schott of Stillwater, and her sister Barbara Anderson of Oklahoma City, as well as sisters-in-law Helen Von Feldt and Janet Volzer, and brothers-in-law Walter Ross, Fr. William Ross, and Fr. James Ross. Mary was an accomplished vocalist who directed the choir at Holy Name Catholic Church for a number of years. She also was proprietress of the Panhandler Gourmet Shop. She was an amazing woman of generous love, tenacious faith, and natural beauty. She always thought of others before herself, and devoted herself with great energy and talent to the persons and tasks God gave her. May she, who so wonderfully provided others hospitality and care, now be welcomed to the banquet of heaven. Internment will be held at Holy Name Section of Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
