ROSS Funeral services for Jack M. Ross, 83, of Chickasha, Okla., are pending with McRay Funeral Home. Jack M. Ross was born Jan. 5, 1921, and died on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, in Chickasha. ================= The Chickasha Express-Star 19 February 2004 JACK M. ROSS Funeral service for Jack Melvin Ross, age 83, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2004, at the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Jack was born the son of Marion Roy Ross and Ruby Mae Lister, on January 5, 1921, in Addington, Oklahoma. He died February 17, 2004, at his home in Chickasha. Jack grew up on a farm near Waurika, Oklahoma, and moved to Chickasha at the age of eleven. During WW II, he enlisted in the U. S. Army at the age of twenty-two and served under General Patton. He served in the European Theatre and received a Purple Heart for wounds sustained in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning to Chickasha, he operated a service station and garage. In1956, Jack began working for Ralph and Sons Oldsmobile as a mechanic. He retired in 2003. Jack was a member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Weldon, one sister, Neva, and one great grandson, Austin. Survivors include his son, Jackie L. and wife, Rita of Montgomery, Texas; daughter, Janelle and husband, Mike Schmidt of Oklahoma City; sister, Naomi Bradley of Indiahoma; six grandchildren; nine great grandchldren; as well as other loving family and friends.
