Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 20 March 2002 Frankie Russell Reid Frankie Russell Reid, 84, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 15, 2002, at the Claremore Veteran?s Hospital. Frankie was born on January 4, 1918, in Mountain View, Oklahoma. His parents were Carl J. Reid Dussome and Helen (Longhorn) Reid. Frankie was united in marriage to Richenda Tahmahkera who preceded him in death in 1966. Frankie joined the U.S. Military at the age of 18 and was enlisted for 25 years with the United States Air Force. His tour of duty included relocating to many countries, such as Iceland, Peru, Alaska and Greenland. He was a member of the Angie Smith United Memorial Church in Oklahoma City and later, Ware's Chapel in Anadarko. He was predominantly stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma, where he retired in 1965 and then, moved with his family to Anadarko. Frankie's parents, Carl J. Reid Dussome and Helen Longhorn were direct descendants of the Sioux Chief Sitting Bull and Kiowa Chief Santanta. They were the first Native American couple to marry in the State of Oklahoma (1906), and the first couple to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Frankie was a loving and devoted husband and father. Frankie will be dearly missed by five surviving children. Frankie is survived by his four daughters: Marsha Kelley, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Arlene Schroeder, of Casa Grande, Arizona, Darlene Jojola, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lucretia Helen Thomas, of Tucson, Arizona, and one son, Marvin James Reid. He has six granddaughters and three grandsons. Frankie has one living brother, Gerald Reid, of Anadarko, and one sister, Maggie Morrison, of Anaheim, California. Frankie was preceded in death by his wife, Richenda Tahmahkera Reid, his brother, Johnnie Reid, and his sisters, Daisy Tahkofpher and Rachel Morrison. Services are under the direction of Smith-Hackney Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma. Prayer services will be held Wednesday night, March 20, from 7-9 p.m., at the Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Mike Harjo at Ware's Chapel on Thursday, March 21, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Lawton, Oklahoma.
