May 9, 1955 Rites Pending for Rutledge Funeral Services are pending for John William Rutledge, 67, of Alex, who died this morning. They will be announced by Chickasha Funeral home upon the arrival of a son. Leavis of Dewitt, Iowa. Mr. Rutledge was born in Murfreesboro, Tenn. and came to Pauls Valley in 1897. Shortly afterwards he moved to Alex where he has farmed most of his life. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. He had been in failing health with a heart condition for several years. Survivors include his wife Emma; two daughters Mrs. Emma Jane Copeland and Mrs. Lavenia Rogers, both of Tatum, N.M.; eight sons; Horace of Duncan, Alfred and John of Alex, Raymond of Lindsay, Marvin of Chickasha, Delford of Claremore, Talmadge and Leavis of; sisters, Miss May Rutledge of Alex, Mrs. Omer Pearson of Alex, Mrs. Hazel Drennon; a number of grandchildren. ======= May 10, 1955 RUTLEDGE RITES HELD IN CHURCH Last rites were conducted at 2 PM this afternoon for John William Rutledge, 67, in Missionary Baptist Church in Alex, with Rev.Elza Perrman Officiating. Interment was in Ireton Cemetery under the direction of Chickasha Funeral Home.
