Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 1 February 2002 Charles Roland Rainey Funeral services for Charles Roland Rainey, age 80, of Verden, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2002, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Edward Whitley will officiate. Charles Roland Rainey, the son of Thomas Alexander Rainey and Rosa Cena Smith Rainey, was born on December 9, 1921, in Maude, Oklahoma. He died on January 30, 2002, in Chickasha. He married Velma Lorene Laney on April 8, 1950, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Roland lived most of his life in the Pocasset and Verden areas. He grew up on the family farm west of Pocasset and graduated from Pocasset High School. After graduation, Roland entered the United States Army. He served in the 45th Infantry, Company A, 5th BTS. Roland returned to Pocasset after his discharge from the service. Roland worked as a custom harvester, truck driver, farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Glendon Rainey, Otis Rainey, Bill Rainey, Dot Tweedy, Orville Rainey and John Tweedy, and one sister, Elsie Miller. Survivors include: his wife: Velma Rainey, of Verden; 4 daughters: Alicia Fant, of Mulberry, Arkansas, Charlsie McDuffey, of Anadarko, Joyce Love, of Weatherford, Texas, and Wanda Eslick, of Comanche; 2 sons: Tom Rainey, of Chickasha, Charles Rainey, of Ft. Worth, Texas' fourteen grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha under the direction of McRay Verden Funeral Home.
