February 2002 Melba M. Ramsey Funeral service for Melba M. Ramsey, age 83, of Alex, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2002, in the Alex Southern Baptist Chapel. Rev. Cody Deevers will officiate, and Rev. Herb Els will assist. Melba M. Ramsey was born the daughter of O. C. Diddle and Frances Mae (Connelly) Diddle, on September 29, 1918, in Moody, Texas. She died on Monday, February 25, 2002, in Chickasha. Melba grew up in Bradley where she attended school. She later moved to Verden where she operated the telephone office, worked for Stephenson Brown Lumber Company, and was the dispatcher for Chickasha Mobile Homes. She married Jack Ramsey on April 22, 1972, and they made their home at Cedar Lake, where they enjoyed hosting their family and friends. In 1997, they moved to Alex to be near their family. Melba was a member of the Alex Southern Baptist Chapel and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, her husband, and one son-in-law. Survivors include: daughter: Virginia Rayburn, of Alex; daughter: Mary Buchanan, of Alex; stepson: Perry Ramsey; stepson: Dan Ramsey, of Chickasha; stepdaughter: Jackie Harmon, of Portales, New Mexico; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
