Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 10 February 2001 Jack Ramsey Funeral service for Jack Ramsey, age 88, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2001, in the Alex Southern Baptist Chapel with Rev. Cody Deevers officiating. Jack Ramsey was born in Tabler, Oklahoma, on December 14, 1912, and passed away to be with his Lord on February 7, 2001 in Chickasha. He was the son of W.W. and Lizzie Southward Ramsey. After graduating from Dibble High School, Mr. Ramsey worked most of his life in the Chickasha and Blanchard communities. He owned and managed several businesses during the course of his life. Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Alex Southern Baptist Chapel. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Blanchard for over 50 years, and attained the 32nd degree of Mason. He was also a retired member of the Blanchard Volunteer Fire Department. Jack will be remembered for his positive attitude, engaging smile, and infectious laugh. He was a gentle and kind man, who always looked for the best in every person. He married Melba Ramsey on April 22, 1972, and they resided in Chickasha, Cedar Lake and Alex, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Melba, of Alex. He also had three children: Jackie and husband Jim Harman of Portales, New Mexico, Perry and wife Virginia Ramsey and Dan and wife Marilyn Ramsey of Chickasha; six grandchildren, Ron Harmon of Houston, Texas, Stephen and wife Donna Ramsey of Coppell, Texas, Jack and wife Deana Ramsey of Denver, Colorado, Michelle and husband Joey Alfred of Edmond, Jason Ramsey of Oklahoma City, and Dorsey Ramsey of Oklahoma City; four great grandchildren, Chelsie and Corey Harman and Trevor and Preston Ramsey. He is also survived by one sister, Hester Bowser and one brother, Woodrow Ramsey who reside in California, and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Jack is also survived by two stepdaughters, Virginia Rayburn and Mary Beth Buchanan of Alex and their children and grandchildren. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer's Research.
