Maynard Eugene Spencer was born Aug. 25, 1931 to Frank and Hazel Anderson Spencer at Litchfield, Ill. and died April 28, 2001 at the Shawnee Regional Hospital in Shawnee. Mrs. Spencer lived in the Pink community near Tecumseh for seven years, coming from the Bridge Creek community. He grew up in Illinois, moving to Oklahoma at the age of 11 years with his father. Maynard and Minerva Spencer were united in marriage in Oklahoma City in 1957. Mr. Spencer attended the Vocational School in Chickasha for welding. He worked as a welder for CMI in Oklahoma City; he also worked briefly for the city of Blanchard. Mr. Spencer enjoyed caring his his animals, fishing and watching movies. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Myron, Merlin, Melvin, Lawrence and Arlin Spencer; one sister, Verda Troub; and one stepson, Kirk D. Pickens. Survivors include three daughters, Verda Faye Haines of Blanchard, Kathy Spencer-Fleck and Myra Spencer-Pierson and husband Mike of Purcell; one stepdaughter, Betty Wolfe and husband Charlie of Norman; one son, Maynard F. Spencer; two stepsons, Charles Pickens and Houston Pickens of Tuttle; one sister, Geraldine Stiritz of Godfrey, Ill.; one brother, Otis Spencer and wife Gladys of Edwardsville, Ill.; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
