SPEARS Funeral service for Jack D. Spears, age 84, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at the West Side Church of Christ in Alex, OK. Jim Coale will officiate, and Jim Sheerer will assist. Jack was born the son of Grover Cleveland Spears and Naomi Mae Alexander Spears on December 20, 1919, in Marlow, Oklahoma. He died on April 24 2004, in Chickasha. Jack grew up in the Rush Springs area and graduated from Fairview High School. After high school, he began working in construction. On January 4, 1940, he married Winfree Ballard in Anadarko and made their home in Rush Springs. After several years in construction, he went to work in the oilfield and lived in several places as he followed his work. In 1954, Jack moved to Alex where he retired from Mobil Oil after 36 years of service. Jack was a member of the Westside Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winfree Spears, three brothers, Ovid, Calvin, and Billy Spears, and two sisters, Oweeta Dowling and Pauline Williams. Survivors include his son and wife, Jerry and Pat Spears of Rowlett, Texas; son and wife, Jack and Glenda Spears of Abita Springs. Louisiana; granddaughter, Stacey Spears of Dallas; grandson, Jeff Spears of Mesquite, Texas; grandson and wife, Russell and Kera Spears of Houston, Texas; step granddaughter, Twilla Stifford of Rowlett, Texas; step granddaughter Tonya Roland of Quinlan, Texas; great granddaughter, Arian Spears of Mesquite, Texas; step great grandson, Alan Mundrake of Rowlett, Texas; step great grandson, Collin Sifford of Rowlett, Texas; sister, Hester King of Oklahoma City; sister, Eileen Park of Ryan, Oklahoma, sister, Joy Evens of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, John Spears of Oklahoma City. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery.
