Sigmon, pioneer citizen residing one half mile north of town died Sunday afternoon after an illness of only 36 hours. Mr. Sigmon came to town late Friday afternoon with a load of farm products and from all outward appearance was in the best of health, but early Saturday morning he was taken sick suffering from aggravated kidney trouble which grew worse as the hours wore on until shortly after the noon hour his heart failed to respond to natures demand and he quietly went to sleep to awake no more in this world. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Monday afternoon, the Rev. C. W. Taylor officiating, after which his body was layed to its final rest in the family lot in the City Cemetery. A large concourse of friends and relatives were in attendance to pay the last sad rites. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. Mr. Sigmon was among the first to come to this vicinity from his native state of Arkansas and has been identified with the progress and development of the country. He was a man highly respected by all and his untimely death will long be felt, a man of ... accomplishments, he numbered his friends by the bounds of his acquaintance. He had passed his 66th birth stone. Besides his faithful wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Will Frick and Mrs. Will Hullett and a large number of near relatives.
