SIGMON PASSES AWAY TUESDAY; SERVICES TO BE THURSDAY, MAY 20 Funeral services for W. P. Sigmon, pioneer resident of Verden community were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20 at the local Baptist Church with Rev. C. W. Taylor officiating. William Pristley Sigmon died at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 at the age of 72 years, ten months and eight days at his home at 809 West Alabama, Anadarko. Born in Arkansas he came to Shawnee in 1889 and moved to Verden in 1905. He retired from farming in 1941 and moved to Anadarko. He was a member of the Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, IOOF and Rebekah lodges. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dora Sigmon, Anadarko; one daughter, Mrs. Flossie Taylor, Anadarko; one son, Cecil, Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sisters Mrs. Amma Madden, Shawnee and Mrs. Cora Peacock, Cyril; one brother, Ralph Sigmon, Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren. A quartet composed of Mrs. I. H. Bilbrey, Mrs. Donald Brown, Mrs. C. F. Zipse and Mrs. R. M. Caldwell sang "In the Garden,:" "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" and "Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. Ivy Horn was at the piano. Casket bearers were George Perdue, Sid McVey, Percy Kern, Orgel Talkington, Elmer Parr and Debs Patterson. Members of the IOOF were honorary bearers. The Masonic Lodge had charge of committal rites.
