All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm +========================================================================+ The Chickaha Express-Star 3 December 2003 VALDO LAROY SAATHOFF Valdo Laroy Saathoff was born September 12, 1932, to George and Yandel (Cocharn) Saathoff on an Indian lease north of Anadarko, Oklahoma. He passed away December 1, 2003, at his home northwest of Anadarko, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 19 days. His first schooling was at Camp Creek. He came to the Anadarko Public Schools in the second grade, and graduated from Anadarko High School with the Class of 1950. He lettered two years in football and was a delegate to Boys State. He entered the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He served 16 months in Korea. On August 16, 1958, he and the former Mary Lois Quayle were married in Chickasha. They have lived in the Square Top area all their married lives. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church. Valdo joined the Independent Order of Oddfellows in 1956 in Gracemont. Later he transferred his membership to Anadarko Lodge No. 184. At the time of his death he was serving as secretary of the lodge. Valdo was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Steven Laroy Saathoff of Anadarko; one daughter, Vicki Leigh Clem and her husband Ryann Lynn of Pocasset; two grandchildren, Cody Ryan Clem and Ryleigh Erin Clem, both of Pocasset; one brother, Neldo Saathoff and wife Juanita of Lake Bay, Washington; one sister-in-law, Bobbi Elliott and her husband Ott of Chickasha; several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many wonderful neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 4, at the First United Methodist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Chuck Gilbert, officiating.
