She died on March 22, 2004, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Anna moved with her family to Logan County, Oklahoma in 1902, to join family members who had previously moved from Iowa. Arriving by train, they were surprised by the red dirt when they awoke their first morning in Guthrie. They forded the Cimmaron River by horse and wagon the next day on their way to Crescent. The crossing scared her and her siblings, Glenn and Mary. Two brothers were born in Logan County. She graduated from Crescent High School and then attended Draughns Business College in Oklahoma City. After graduation, she was a secretary at Armour and Company and then at the Daily Oklahoman. In 1920, she married Frank Stauffer who worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Guthrie. Frank moved to Enid, Oklahoma in 1922, when he became traffic manager for Enid Milling Company. Her son, Dale, was born in 1930. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1932, when Frank became sales manager for Acme Milling Company. In 1940, Frank became Vice President of Moore Stauffer Company and they settled in Chickasha. She remained in Chickasha after his death in 1966, until she moved to Tulsa in the fall of 2003. Anna was a member of the First Christian Church in Chickasha. She loved to play bridge, and was a member of several bridge clubs and the Senior Citizens group. Anna enjoyed checkers and card games with her great granddaughters. Survivors include her son and wife, Dale and Joan Stauffer of Tulsa; granddaughter, Laura Daniel of Tulsa; grandson and wife, Neal and Kathy Stauffer of Tulse; great granddaughters: Shelby, JoAnna and Kattie Stauffer of Tulsa; niece, Mary Ann McKaig of Crescent; and niece, Wanda Fox of Windsor, California. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
