All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Walters Cemetery--Walters OK Lawton Constitution September 13, 2003 Charles Shidler WALTERS — Funeral for Charles Shidler, 77, Walters, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Walters First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kip Wright officiating. Mr. Shidler died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, in Walters. Burial will be at Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters. He was born April 9, 1926, in Electra, Texas, and grew up west of Rush Springs. He entered the Army, and served in Germany during World War II. He made his home in the Chickasha, Rush Springs and Duncan area, and then at Lawton and Geronimo in the 1960s. He owned and operated the Geronimo Café from 1972 to 1999. He was a member of the IOOF, and served as Grand Patriarch in 1992 and 2002. He was a past Geronimo City Council member, past Geronimo Police Commissioner and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a member of Walters First United Methodist Church. Survivors include Olga Daniels Shidler, Walters; five daughters: Laura Lynn Byrd and Alma Charlene Donovan,both of Lawton; Elva Lee Bean, Oklahoma City; Jenny Lyne Davidson, Ponca City; and Cheryl Jean McCue, Shelbyville, Mich; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
