All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Stone, John In Loving Memory John Stone 7/2/1948 11/29/2002 John Monroe Stone, of Newcastle, OK, passed from this life Friday, November 29, 2002, as the result of a tragic air accident. John was born July 2, 1948, at Shawnee, OK, to Robert and Vaskey Stone. John grew up in Wayne, OK, and was baptized into Christ at the "Y" Church of Christ during his teenage years. In High School, he enjoyed music, playing in the band, assembling model airplanes, and dreaming of flying. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1966, beginning his higher education at Oklahoma State University, where he lived at the airport and began his flying career. After being involved in other interests for a time, he attended Oklahoma University, later transferring to USAO at Chickasha, where he graduated with a degree in Accounting. During those years, John pursued many interests, such as nice cars and a love of music, also owning a bicycle shop in Oklahoma City, and a small construction business, but through it all, always having a love for airplanes and flying. After many years of being single, John married Kathy Cole on September 9, 1995, and took her children, Jennifer and Neilan, as his own. At the time of his death, John and Kathy owned and operated Chickasha Aviation in Chickasha, OK. John was preceded in death by both of his parents, Robert and Vaskey Stone; his father-in-law, Neilan "Jack" Cole; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Wingate. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home; daughter, Jennifer Smith and husband, Ryan; son, Neilan Shunkwiler; mother-in-law, Merine Cole, two brothers: Charlie Stone, and wife LaRue, Paoli, OK, and Randy Stone, Enid, OK, two sisters: Helen Wingate, Lindsay, OK, and Margaret Jones and husband, Bud, of Ada, OK; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Memorial service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4th at Newcastle Church of Christ.
