All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Fairlawn Cemetery--Chickasha OK The Chickasha Express-Star 9 January 2003 ANCEL GRADEN STANTON Funeral service for Ancel Graden Stanton, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2003, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Ancel Graden Stanton was born on June 23, 1913, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, the son of George Samuel and Mary Mel Vina Jobe Stanton, and passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2003, in Chickasha. He lived in Rush Springs until he was 28. He was in the Army from 1942 until 1945, stationed in India. He married Bettie (James) Smedley Strickland on October 19, 1949. He was a Chickasha Police Captain for five years. After retiring from the police department he moved to the country north of Chickasha, and he became a farmer and rancher. While farming, he worked at the State Capital until his retirement. He spent the last four years at Shanoan Springs Nursing Home and was greatly loved by all residents and staff. He was preceded in death by: parents, George and Mary Stanton; his wife of 50 years, Bettie Stanton; son, James Stanton; stepson, Ray Smedley; granddaughter, Donna Phillips; 6 sisters; 2 brothers. Survivors include: 2 daughters: Melba Ellis of Chickasha, Patsy Ferrell of Chickasha; grandchildren: Michael Ellis, James Frenzen, Johnna Ferrell and David Ferrell, all of Chickasha, Brenda Card of Blanchard, Donna Owens of Cocoa, FL; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved cousin, Dorothy Dobry. He spent his life devoted to his family, friends and his church. He held a special place in his heart for his neighbors, the Eddie McCool and Phillip Schmidt families. He will be greatly missed by everyone. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
