Edna Standridge was born Oct. 1, 1913, and died on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004. ================= The Chickasha Express-Star 25 February 2004 EDNA MAY CUNNINGHAM STANDRIDGE Edna May Cunningham Standridge was born to George and Rose Cunningham on the 1st of October, 1913. When she was three, her mother died. Her father died when she was five. She was raised by her brother, Emmit Cunningham, and his wife, Mittie, with their seven children, Leonard, Clinton, Burl, Ruby, Velda, Bertha and Stella. Edna started playing the piano at Sharon Baptist Church when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Friend High School in 1931. She married Houston Standridge in 1933, and they started their life on the farm near Amber, Oklahoma. While living at Amber they were very active in the Amber Baptist Church where she was the church pianist for 20 years. She was active in Women's Missionary Union, cooked at Falls Creek, and active in the Bitter Creek Home Demonstration Club. She loved her home and was very involved in school, church, and community. Houston, Edna and Roy moved to Lindsay in 1959 when they purchased the John Deere business. While in Lindsay, she was very active in the Lindsay First Baptist Church and the Woman's Missionary Union. She loved to china paint, was a member of the China Painting Club and the Lindsay Literary Club. She played the piano at the Lindsay nursing home for 25 years. She was a joy for all of her family and all her extended family to be around. Edna is survived by Houston, of the home; children Jerry and Wanda Standridge, of Amber, Raymond and Charlotte McDowell, of Mustang, Roy and Cindy Standridge, of Lindsay. She is survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jim, Rhonda, Raschel, and Aaron Willeford, of Duncan; Derek Standridge Allen, of Chickasha; Tom, Linda, Josh and Trey Adams, of Amber; Tim Glenette, Hollie and Brent Russell, of Woodward; Eddie, Kari, Blake and Brooke McDowell; Chad, Angie, Kolton, Bayler and Hayden McDowell, all of Mustang; Adam and Ronda McDowell, of Rochester, MN; Scott, Shanna, Allie, Rex and Ryan Standridge; Jay Anna, Jake and Garet Standridge, all of Lindsay; and Lee and Ashley Standridge of Pensacola, Florida. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, George Andrew and Rose Cunningham, her siblings, Emmit, Jeff, William, and Clara Cunningham; Theo, Dick, and Turner Robinson; Jim, Ruth, and Mary Cunningham. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jim Standridge, grandson, Mike Standridge, and great granddaughter, Danielle Standridge.
