STRINGFIELD A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Mr. James T. Stringfield, age 79, who died Friday, May 13, 2005, in Lafayette General Medical Center. Reverend Dr. Perry R. Sanders, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lafayette will conduct the services. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Stringfield of Lafayette; son: James Stringfield of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter, Jennifer Ann Stringfield of Lafayette; son: William Stringfield of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter: Elizabeth Coussan of Cumming, GA; son: Douglas Stringfield of Lafayette and grandchildren: Jessica Stringfield, Jacque Stringfield, Julie Stringfield, Jenny Stringfield, Cody Coussan, Christian Coussan, Caleb Coussan, Alexander Stringfield and Bailey Stringfield and his sisters, Pauline Patterson, May Ruth Wolf, and Margaret Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Ted" Stringfield and Flora "Hodie" Stringfield; one brother, Walter Stringfield and one sister, Hazel Stringfield. Mr. Stringfield was born April 21, 1926 in Norge, Oklahoma and was a resident of Lafayette since the 1950s. He was a veteran of military service having served in the United States Army. After serving honorably, he attended the University of Oklahoma earning a degree in engineering with honors. He worked in the petroleum industry as an independent geologist and entrepreneur. He loved to draw and spend time with his family and friends. A lifelong love of music, he was active in community musical activities, an avid barbershop quarter singer as an active member in the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. Mr. Stringfield will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his thoughtful written notes of encouragement and a tremendous gift of sharing himself with others. His traditional gift of his time and personal stealth delivery of Piccadilly homemade apple pie and Petroleum Club lemonade brightened the lives of many. He was cherished by family and friends and will be remembered and loved by all who knew him. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
