Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the Newcastle United Methodist Church, with family visitation after the service. Ben Morrell Slater was born Feb. 6, 1928, and died on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at his home west of Newcastle.
