(Bob) Smith Robert J. (Bob) Smith, 78, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, passed away from this life May 1, 2002, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha. He was born December 9, 1923, to Walter and Maybell Smith in Antlers, Oklahoma. He married Elizabeth Betty Deitchman on June 8, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas, and to this union were born two sons, Gary and Larry. Bob proudly served his country during World War II. He was a member of the Lumbermen's Association. He also was a member of the American Legion #24, Kiwanis Club of Anadarko. Bob was employed by Rounds and Porter Lumber Co. in 1949 through 1950. Then he joined Stephenson-Brown Lumber Co. in Anadarko from 1950-1953; he then was employed at Stephenson-Brown in Chickasha as assistant manager until 1959. In 1959 Bob became manager in Anadarko till 1969, when Stephenson-Brown Lumber was sold to Lone Star Industries. In 1979 Bob Smith and family purchased the business which is currently known as Smith and Sons Building Center. Bob?s greatest joys was his grandchildren and working in his garden and traveling. In his many years in business, he was well respected and liked by all. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anytime he was asked. Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth, of the home; 2 sons: Larry Robert He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Thelma Kinslow, Mary McDaniel and Dorothy Cox. Wake Service was held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, at Smith-Hackney Funeral Home, Anadarko. Funeral Service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Father M. Price Oswalt officiated. Interment was held at the Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Hackney Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma. Casketbearers were Theodore Villanueva, Paul Fuller, Richie McGlothlin, David Hines, Robert Moore, Monroe Jones, Tommy Davis, Jr., Walter Circles. Honorary Casketbearers were Coy Jones, John Siler, Ralph Jameson, Norwin Bruer, Leon Jacobs, John Van Ess, J.D. Jarvis. They are here in spirit but not in body.
