Smith was born in Henry county, Iowa, December 25, 1855. Departed this life December 22, 1907, aged 56 years 11 months and 27 days. She was married to George W. Harris at Keokuk, Iowa in 1866. To this union seven children were born. Roy died in childhood, John, Oscar, Edward, Nettie, Alma and Charlie are still living. After living a number of years in Iowa and Kansas, they located on a farm 4 miles south of Verden, Okla., at which they were residing at the time of her death. In early life she became a member of the United Brethern church and ever after has devoted her life to her God and her family. Being an invalid for a number of years, she has always borne her sufferings with patience and fortitude which show how strong was her faith in a future home where pain and sufferings were unknown.
