All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 30 March 2005 Smith, John Paul John Paul Smith, 49, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Grady County Memorial Hospital in Chickasha, Oklahoma. John was born January 10, 1956 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Henry & Anna Bell (Devereaux) Smith. John received a basketball scholarship to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1975. He was an avid basketball fan of the Lakers and the OU Sooners. John married Joyce Williams on May 6, 1999 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. John will be greatly missed by all who know and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Joyce of the home; three sons, John Smith, Jr., of Springfield, Missouri, Fred Watkins, of Bethany, Oklahoma; and Jeff Watkins of Eugene, Oregon; one step-son, Craig WIlliams of Norman, Oklahoma; one daughter, Laslona Watkins, of Highland, California; one step-daughter, Christy White, of Anadaro, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; mother, Anna Bell Smith; one brother, Mike Smith of Elk City, Oklahoma; three sisters, Earlene Ward, of Laural, Maryland, Frances Melson of Alexandria, Virginia, and Sue Riggins of Chickasha, Oklahoma; as well as a host of other relatives and many loving friends. John is preceded in death by his father, Henry and grandmothers: Lucy Devereaux & Carrie Smith. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2005 at First Baptist Church, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Officiating will be Rev. Vernon Winston, Evangelist Wilma Winston and John Smith.
