SANDERS Funeral services for Evelyn L. Sanders, 96, of Chickasha, Okla., are pending with McRay Funeral Home. Evelyn L. Sanders was born Dec. 24, 1907, and died on Sunday, April 25, 2004. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 27 April 2004 EVELYN L. SANDERS Graveside service for Evelyn L. Sanders, age 96, of Chickasha, will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 29, 2004, in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The daughter of Judge and Mrs. L. A. Sanders, Evelyn was born on December 24, 1907. She died April 25, 2004, in Chickasha. Evelyn was a life-long resident of Chickasha. She held a degree in history and elementary education from Oklahoma College for Women (now University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma) and a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma. Evelyn also attended SMU and Northwestern University in Chicago. She taught school in Chickasha for 43 years before retiring. She was a lifelong member of the Epworth United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Evelyn was also a member of the League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, Democratic Women, and the Christian Women's Club. After her mother's death in 1955, she spent many summers traveling and working in New York City and Chicago. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, and by her two brothers, Harold B. Sanders of Dallas, Texas, and Wayne Sanders of Phoenix, Arizona. Survivors include two nieces, Martha Ann Schneider of Dallas, Texas, and Mary Louise Chamberlain of Jeffrey, New Hampshire; three nephews, Dr. Charles A. Sanders of Durham, North Carolina, Judge Barefoot Sanders of Dallas, Texas, and Richard Sanders of Washington; many great nieces and great nephews. The family is particularly grateful to Evelyn's wonderful friends, Charlotte and John Nelson of Chickasha, who have devoted so much care and attention to Evelyn for many years. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
