All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Marlow Cemetery--Marlow OK Duncan Banner 25 Jun 2003 Viva Mae ‘Vi’ Shannon Viva Mae Shannon, age 70, a lifelong Duncan area resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2003, after a short illness. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Western Heights Baptist Church, 2305 W. Beech, Duncan, with the Rev. Mike Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow. The slumber room will receive family and friends beginning today. Vi was born March 19, 1933, in Penelope, Texas, to Loyd and Viva Wilkerson Ball. She married Robert D. “Bob” Shannon on Oct. 10, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1996. She was semi- retired, with 40 years of service with the Comanche School Systems Administration Office. Vi enjoyed life and all the blessings it offered and dedicated her life, with all her heart, to her son, family, friends, co-workers, church family, and above all, our dear Lord. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sherrie Shannon of Duncan; a grandson and his wife, Jeff and Carrie Sides of Duncan; a great-great- granddaughter, Cara Sides; a sister, Lea Foote and Bill Lepetic of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three brothers, Esco and Lola Ball of Roseburg, Ore.; Carrol Wayne and Carol Ball of Sacramento, Calif., and Bill and Geraldine Ball of Rush Springs; a sister-in-law, Eula Mae Ball of Roseburg; and a brother- in-law, Ernest Reed of Rush Springs. In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews throughout the United States and Virgin Islands, who held such a “very special place” in her heart. Viva Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Viva Ball; two brothers, Orvil Ball and Troy Ball; and three sisters, Oleta Reed and twins, Nelda McCoy and Velda Halvorsen. Bearers will be Carrol Ball, Loyd Ball, Sam Ball, Rod Ball, Terry McAdoo and Gary McAdoo.
