Friday, May 6 at the local Baptist Church with Rev. Garland Anderson, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. C. W. Taylor. Mrs. Don Brown had charge of the music. Interment was in the Verden cemetery under the direction of the Hansen Funeral Home. William Powell Simmons was born November 8, 1895 in Stevens county, Texas and died at 8 p. m. May 4 in Oklahoma City at the age of 53 years five months and 26 days. He came to Verden in 1907, went through school here and was manager of the Washita Valley Gin at one time. He left here about 12 years ago. Survivors include three half brothers, Judge A. P. Murrah and George and Elmo Murrah, all of Oklahoma City. Submitted by Sandi Carter
