She attended Altus Junior College on a scholastic scholarship. She was a member of the college vocal trio and quartet and served as college accompanist. She was awarded full membership in the Alpha Chapter of the Kappa Theta Fraternity for both years, as well as earning letters in music and drama. She transferred to Southwestern Institute of Technology, now known as Southwestern State University, at Weatherford, Okla., where in January 1944, she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in education, majoring in public school music with minors in history, social studies and elementary education. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the college instrumental trio, performed in numerous piano recitals, served as pianist for her dormitory and used this talent to entertain the U.S. Air Force Mechanics, who were stationed in Weatherford for training during World War II. She was selected by the college faculty to be listed in the 1944 edition of "Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges." In 1946, she moved to Rush Springs, Okla., and joined the high school faculty there. It was here she met her future husband, Norbert Luis St. Dizier Jr. They were married Aug. 23, 1947, in First United Methodist Church in Altus. After their marriage, they resided in Rush Springs, where she continued to teach and her husband continued his career with the Rock Island Railroad. In 1956, they moved to Amarillo, where they spent the remainder of their lives. In November 1958, Betty began working for Sears, Roebuck and Co. as a part-time employee, later becoming full-time. She worked in various sales positions and in personnel until April 1973, when she retired. Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour at age 11 and became a member of Methodist Episcopal Church at Porter High, a branch of the church of Elmer, Okla. She was an active member of the church for many years, participating as a member of the choir and at one time a choir director. Upon moving to Amarillo, she transferred her membership to St. Paul Methodist Church. She has been a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church since 1967. In 1978, she became interested in genealogy, and she and her husband became members of the Amarillo Genealogical Society. They were in the first group from the society to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to do research at the Library of the Latter-day Saints. She continued her research until she lost most of her sight.
