All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Ninnekah Cemetery--Ninnekah OK © The Chickasha Express-Star Thursday, 16 February 2006 Ira "Ray" Todd Funeral services for Ira "Ray" Todd, 86, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2006, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Kim Hayes officiating. Ray Todd was born July 14, 1919, in Bailey, Oklahoma, the son of Claude Lee and Bessie [Conner] Todd. He died Monday, February 13, 2006 at his home in Chickasha.. Ray lived most of his life in Grady County. He grew up and attended schools at Union Hill, Harris, and Chickasha. In 1930 his family moved to Ninnekah, and he graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1939. After his graduation, he went to California and stayed for a few months, coming back to Oklahoma in December of 1939, to court the love of his life, Lois Jeter. Ray and Lois Jeter were married on June 29, 1940. They had 66 wonderful years together. They moved to California, where during WW II, Ray worked for Lockheed, later transferring to Oklahoma City, where he worked for Douglas, until he was drafted into the Army, during WW II. Once he was discharged from the U. S. Army, he came back to Chickasha and started doing carpentry work, advancing himself to a building contractor on residential and commercial building projects. In 1967, he bought a Mat Factory, later converting it to Todd Trailer Accessory Company, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1973. Ray was an avid outdoorsman and after his retirement he and Lois traveled all over the United States, Canada, and Old Mexico, fishing every chance they got. When he wasn't traveling he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Chickasha Masonic Lodge and the Chickasha Elks Club. He is preceded in death by both parents; daughter, Paula Beth Todd; granddaughter, Nancy [Billy] Miller; brother, Oren Todd; and sister, Ada Todd. He is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home; son and daughter-in- law: Larry and Lee Ann Todd, of Chickasha; daughter and son-in-law: Dienna and Dale Billy, of Oklahoma City; sister, Sylvia Weital, of Modesto, California; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
