Towell Services for Weldon R. Towell, 71, of Chickasha, are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home. Weldon R. Towell was born on Jan. 2, 1930, and died on Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in Chickasha. Submitted by Sandi Carter ================= The Chickasha Express-Star 22 February 2001 WELDON R. TOWELL Graveside services for Weldon R. Towell, 71, of Chickasha, will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2001, at 3:00 p.m. in the Duncan City Cemetery with Rev. J.V. Lobaugh of the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church officiating. Weldon R. Towell was born on January 2, 1930, in Empire, Oklahoma, the son of Isac Richman Towell and Flora Mae Hawkins Towell. He died Monday, February 19, 2001 in Chickasha. Weldon grew up in Empire, Oklahoma where he attended the Public Schools. Weldon was employed in the oilfields, and also had been a truck driver for several years. In 1962, he moved to California where he was also employed in the oilfields and with the State of California Highway Maintenance Department. Weldon retired in 1975, due to health reasons and then returned to Chickasha in 1977. Weldon is preceded in death by both parents, one son, Weldon Ray Towell Jr. and one granddaughter, Clair Mellisa Delancey. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Roxie and Orval Stewart of Chickasha; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Christy Towell of Oklahoma City, Stanley and Sandy Towell of Lime Rock, California; four brothers; two sisters; fifteen grandchildren and special friend and caretaker, Lawana Jackson of Chickasha. Interment will be in the Duncan City Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
