Talkington, age 57, were held Monday afternoon in the First Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. James Wilkerson officiating, assisted by Rev. E. H. Grose of Cement. Mr. C. E. Warburton and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Seago sang "Take My Hand Precious Lord," "Near the Cross," and "Have Thine Own Way Lord" accompanied by Mrs. C. E. Warburton. Casket bearers were Paul DeBoard, Harry Dodson, Dank Pitts, V. E. Griffith, Ernest Gardner and Alvy Norman. The I. O. O. F. Lodge had charge of the Committal Rites with Cecil Nicholas and George Tippet officiating. Mr. Talkington was born June 26, 1902 at Stroud, Oklahoma and passed away October 4, 1959 in the Anadarko hospital after a lengthy illness. He moved to Verden with his parents in 1904. In 1924 he was married to Miss Ruth Otey and to this union were born three sons. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the I. O. O. F. Lodge No. 374. Survivors are his wife, Ruth of the home, three sons, Richard of New Orleans, La., Donald of Cement and Howard of Spearman, Texas. Five grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Jane Talkington, Verden; three brothers, Will of Hydro, Sam and Fred of Verden; five sisters, Mrs. Rose Dodson of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Susie Frick of Verden, Mrs. Cora Fowler of Verden, Mrs. Inez Smith of Lindsay, and Miss Mildred Talkington of Verden and a host of other relatives and friends.
