The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ==================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 15 August 2002 JOHN HILL TURLEY Funeral service for John Hill Turley, age 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Barbara Hunt will Officiate. John was born the son of Jesse Jefferson Turley and Effie Andrew Young Turley on January 3, 1913, in Mineral Springs, Arkansas. He died August 10, 2002, in Chickasha. John moved to Ninnekah at the age of twelve. After graduation from Ninnekah High School, he moved to California and worked in the Kaiser Shipyards. He then entered the U. S. Army during World War II. During the war, John served in the Island Leyte in the South Pacific. After the war, he returned to California where he worked as manager of a furniture store chain, retiring in 1971. John moved to Chickasha in 1972. John attended the First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Survivors include: son and wife: John Steven and Cathy Ann Vye Turley of Kirkland, Washington; four grandchildren: John D. Turley, Kristine C. Turley, Katherine E. Turley, and Cameron Vye Turley; two sisters: Lorida Hagstrom of Oklahoma City, and Ida Mae Rodgers of Eufaula, OK; three brothers: Travis "Tab" Turley of Oklahoma City, Edgar B. Turley of Marlow, and Zane G. Turley of Roswell, Georgia. Interment will be held in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
