Turley was born December 2, 1918, to Jesse and Effie (Young) Turley in Mineral Springs, Arkansas, and passed from this life Thursday, September 4, 2003, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He was 84. Service is Saturday, September 6, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Marlow, Oklahoma, with Rev. Terry Koehn officiating. Burial will be at the Marlow Cemetery in Marlow, Oklahoma, under the direction of Callaway- Smith-Cobb Funeral Home. E.B. was a lifelong resident of the Marlow/Chickasha area. He graduated from Chickasha High School, graduated from Central State University and earned his master's degree from the University of Oklahoma. E.B. married Louise (Sieg) Turley on December 27, 1942, in Cement, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps in World War II, serving in the European Theatre. E.B. was superintendent of the Marlow Public Schools from 1959-1966 and superintendent of Chickasha Public Schools from 1966 until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Red, Red Rose, Marlow Lion's Club, Mason's and the Rotary Club. He was inducted into the Grady County Hall of Fame, Former Marlow Citizen of the Year, Former President of the South Central District of the OEA. E.B. enjoyed gardening and golfing. E.B. was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a Lay Minister, former Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Methodist Men and past Methodist Man of the Year. His survivors include: wife, Louise Turley of the home in Marlow, Oklahoma; 2 daughters: Kala Pennington and husband Jim of Newcastle, OK, Leah Green and husband D.B. of Marlow, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Kim Pennington-Jenkins and husband Mike of Norman, Oklahoma, Kari Gummer and husband Chris of Dallas, TX, Brent Green of Bethany, Oklahoma, Brad Pennington of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 3 great grandchildren: Madisen and Abbie Gummer of Dallas, Texas, Guthrie Jenkins of Norman, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: Travis Turley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Zane Turley of Georgia; 2 sisters: Lorida Hagstrom of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ida B. Rogers of Eufaula, Oklahoma.
