McGaughy officiating. Walter Lee Turner was born October 5, 1922, in Binger, Oklahoma, and died Friday, April 20, 2001, in Houston, Texas. He was an Army Veteran, a member of the VFW Post 9022 in Dumas and the American Legion 224 of Dumas. He worked for W.D. Jones Drilling Co. as a welder and driller for over 30 years. His wife Lena Marie Turner preceded him in death on July 18, 1988. Survivors include 5 sons: Gerry Turner of Dennison, Texas, Gene Turner of Dumas, Texas, Ronald Turner of Duncan, Oklahoma, Michael Turner of Dumas, Texas, and Rodney Turner of Sunray; 1 daughter: Marilyn Smith of Amarillo, Texas; 1 brother: L.D. Turner of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 6 sisters: Odessa Du Bois of Stockton, CA, Pearl Burnett of Dumas, Texas, Oma Blackburn of Chickasha, OK, Bonnie Burnett of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Georgia Hoselton of El Reno, OK, and Betty Ingram of Okemah, OK; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren Preceded in death by: granddaughter: Angela Dawn Smith and grandson: Michael Todd Turner, brother: Jack Turner. Interment was held at the Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directions of Dumas.
