TURNERHILL Funeral services for William R. Turnerhill, 82, of Chickasha, Okla., are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home. William R. Turnerhill was born May 15, 1920, and died on Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Norman, Okla. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 23 March 2003 WILLIAM RUDOLPH TURNERHILL Funeral services for William Rudolph Turnerhill, 81, of Chickasha, will be held Tuesday, March 25, at 1:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. William R. Turnerhill was born May 15, 1921, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, the son of Lewis V. Turnerhill and Sarah J. Buckley Turnerhill. He died March 20, 2003, in Norman, Oklahoma. William grew up in Rush Springs and attended rural Rush Springs schools and Lincoln High School in Chickasha. He was employed in Lawton for a short time. Then he joined the U. S. Army. While stationed in Germany, he met and married Erna Matthaus on August 31, 1962. He served in the Military for thirty years. During that time he was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal, ten Service Stripes, and four Overseas Bars. After retirement, he came to Chickasha where he was employed with the City of Chickasha in park and street maintenance. He retired from the city after ten years. He was a member of the Masons. He was preceded in death by his wife Erna in 1996, both parents, and five brothers. Survivors include one sister, Lillian Prince of Berkley, California; four nieces, Callie Ellis of Chickasha, Norine Willa and Juanita Brown, both of Omaha, Nebraska, and Ola Berry of Oklahoma City; two nephews, James Berry of Oklahoma City, and Virgil Turnerhill of El Cerrito, California; and many other nieces and nephews. Viewing and visitation will be held Monday, March 24, 2003, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home.
