R. Vinyard was a shock to his many friends, which occurred Monday morning. His death was caused by heart trouble, though he was able to be at his place of business until death came. Mr. Vinyard was a man of pleasant personalities. John Robert Vinyard, was born in the state of Missouri, June 8th, 1866, and died in Verden, Oklahoma July 23, 1935, age 69 years, 1 month and 16 days. In early life he moved from Missouri to Texas where he grew to manhood and where he met and married Miss Rhoda Alice Sharp at Burnscity, Texas. To the union were born seven children, four daughters and three sons. Two of the sons preceded their father in death, Martin died March 5th, 1899, and Arthur died October 1st, 1934. The surviving children are: Mrs. Ollie Tucker of Arkansas, Mrs. Jane Slent of Canada, Mrs. Verna Sweeney of Nebraska, Mrs. Grace Jackman of Tulsa and Robert of Verden, all of these remain with their mother to mourn the loss of a father and husband. Brother Vinyard came to Verden twenty seven years ago and has since then been known to us as an honorable citizen and a good neighbor. He professed faith in Christ when just a boy, united with the church and was active in church work as Sunday school superintendant and teacher, and at the time of his death he was an honored member of the Masonic Fraternity. Services were conducted in the Methodist church by his Pastor, F. L. Giles, and interment was made in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of the Hansen Funeral Home. Submitted by Sandi Carter
