C. WASSON Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock for John C. Wasson, 70, a resident of Grady County since 1909, was conducted at the Baptist church by Rev. C. W. Taylor assisted by Rev. Lawrence Leach. The choir composed of Mrs. R. M. Caldwell, Mrs. Ed MaGuire, B. M. and F. G. Ransbarger, sang "Face to Face," "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Nearer My God To Thee" with Miss Adeline MaGuire at piano. Mr. Wasson died about 11 o'clock Tuesday night at his home in Verden after a lingering illness. He was born in Grimes County, Texas and came to the Verden community with his family from Texas in 1909. Surviving members of the family include his wife, Margaret, three sons, Roy and Lee of Verden, and Henry of San Diego, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Addie Mills of Verden, Mrs. Chrystine Wilson of Toledo, Ore., and Mrs. Sybil Smith and Mrs. Katherine Watson of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Goodwin of Breckinridge, Texas and Mrs. Sybil Akers of Abilene, Texas. Interment was made in Verden Cemetery with Hansen Funeral Home in charge.
