Doris was born Aug. 30, 1922, and died on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 19 October 2004 DORIS M. WOOD Memorial services for Doris M. Wood, 82, of Chickasha, Okla., will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Rev. Hal Greenwood will officiate. Doris M. Wood was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Ninnekah, Okla., and died on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, in Chickasha. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 20 October 2004 DORIS M. WOOD Memorial service for Doris M. Wood, age 82, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2004, in the St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Rev. Hall Greenwood will officiate. Doris M. Wood was born in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, on August 30, 1922, the first of three children born to Jesse Rector O'Bar and Iva M. Lindsey O'Bar. She died on October 18, 2004, in Chickasha. Doris moved with her parents to Okarche, Union City, and finally in 1938, established permanent residence in Chickasha. She graduated from Chickasha High School. Doris attended two years at Oklahoma College for Women. On October 13, 1944, Doris married Fred A. Wood of Independence, Missouri. They operated Fred's Chickasha Hatchery until 1950. From 1956 through 1959 Doris worked for the Rexall Drug Store. She later went to work as an administrative assistant for Reford Bond, a local attorney. In 1963, Doris moved to the law office of McEllroy and Vaughn. She returned to college and earned her paralegal degree from the University of Oklahoma Law School. Doris remained with Vaughn, Stack, Huckaby and Frailey, until her retirement in 1992. Doris was a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She was active in various civic organizations including PTA, ALTRUSA, and the Episcopal Church Women. In addition to serving as a member of Saint Luke's Vestry, she was also a member of the Legal Secretary's Association. She enjoyed playing bridge and hosting club events in her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, two daughters, Judith Patricia Wood-Lewis and Dr. Donna J. Wood, and nephew, Jesse R. "Jay" O'Bar III. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike McCaughtry of Chickasha; son and daughter-in-law, Ret. LTC Joe and Elizabeth Wood of Lawton, stepson, Jim Wood of Austin, Texas; grandson, Mike M. McCaughtry of Chickasha; granddaughter, Miranda Wood of Lawton; granddaughter, Vicki Wood and mother, Mary and stepfather, Bill Bachelor of Dallas, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Ann O'Bar of Chickasha; sister, Dorothy Killebrew of Austin, Texas. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. In liew of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Judith Patricia Wood-Lewis and Dr. Donna J.
