All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Verden News 30 November 1951 LILLIE LEE [WILLIAMS] WHITLEY SERVICES HELD MONDAY Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Lee Whitley were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Methodist Church. Rev. Harold Leveridge, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Verden Cemetery. Music for the service was furnished by the Methodist choir who sang "No Night There," "Never Grow Old" and "Beckening Hands." Mrs. Herschel Melton was pianist. Casket bearers were J. N. Kern, Roy Hamrick, Paul DeBoard, Houston Beene, Percy Kern of Anadarko and F. G. Ransbarger of Chickasha. Honorary bearers were Mrs. Sherman Hostick, Mrs. M. F. Petree, Mrs. B. F. Loveless, Mrs. C. W. Hamill, Mrs. Roy Hamrick, Mrs. Myrtle Reece, and Mrs. E. W. Peters of Chickasha. Grandmother Whitley, as she was affectionately called by many friends, was born at Albany, Missouri on October 12, 1864 and passed away at the home of her son, Kirby Whitley, November 24, 1951 at the age of 87 years, one month and twelve days. She was united in marriage to Kirby Green Whitley, March 24, 1890. They moved to Verden in 1902 where they have since made their home. Mr. Whitley preceded her in death in 1945. Mrs. Whitley was a member of the Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
