W. Threadgill near Cement, with whom he had made his home the past two years, since the death of his wife. There is no language at our command by which we can fittingly portray the sincerity of this man's Christian character; and in the experience of a lifetime, the writer hereof can safely say, we never met one who seemed to more nearly walk hand in hand with God. To man, woman or child, saint or sinner, he always extended a cordial greeting that lent a ray of light to brighten their pathway in the journey of life. He commanded the respect of all classes of people, as the attendance at his funeral fully verified. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Baptist church with Rev. P. F. Harmon officiating and interment made in Verden cemetery. Uncle Ben reared his family in this community and had many friends here. He was 78 years of age. Surviving members of the family include four children, Mrs. J. W. Threadgill, Mrs. Florence Swaim of Oklahoma City, W. W. Wilson of Cement, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one brother, J. T. Lawson of Waco, Texas Submitted by Sandi Carter --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
