Wilkerson, Prominent Citizen of this Community dies at Okla. City W. T. Wilkerson, a well-known citizen of this section of Oklahoma died at Oklahoma City last Friday about seven hours after an operation was performed in the hope of prolonging his life. He had been suffering more or less about three months. About six weeks prior to his decease he was graciously saved thru repentance and faith in Christ. However, his physical condition grew worse until doctor and friend despaired of his recovery. While he himself was conscious of his near departure, by the encouragement of some Christian friends, he was made tohope and after united prayed and faith he got up at once, dressed and walked about outdoors and back. He was apparently almost well for several weeks. His health began to decline again and when his condition became serious this time, an operation seemed to be advisable and he was taken to Oklahoma City specialists. His remains were brought to Alex Saturday and laid to rest in the Laflin Cemetery in the afternoon. A large crowd of relatives and friends were present at the funeral which was conducted by Rev. J. I. Harenton pastor. He was one of the pioneers of this state having lived in, this community more than a score of years. He was a merchant at Ireton and Alex a number of years and about two years ago went back to the farm, being located lately nine miles southwest of the town. He was forty-five years old and leaved {sic} a wife and ten children and a host of friends and relatives to mourn their loss which is heaven's gain and all who will may meet him there.
