Walters, 76, Route 4, Blanchard have been tentatively set for Friday at the chapel of the Brown Funeral Home, with Rev. H. P. Haley in charge. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements had not been completed this afternoon pending word from members of the family. Mr, Walters died suddenly about 6 o'clock this morning, following a heart attack. He moved to the Lucelle community near Blanchard in 1906 and for the past 25 years had lived in the Hawkins community. For more than 50 yeaes he had been a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving members of the family include his wife, Millie; three daughters, Mrs D. B. Massey of Blanchard, Mrs E. B. Carey of Chickasha and Mrs Frank Porter of Amber; two sons J. H. Walters of Delano, Calif, and Alfred C. Walters of Blanchard, and 23 grandchildren. ------------------------------------------------------------ Chickasha Star; 08 Feb 1940; pg 1; column 4 Hart Attack Fatal To Grady County Pioneer "Pappy" Walters Dies At Age of 76; Was Once Large Land Owner A sudden heart attack was fatal to "Pappy" W. W. Walters, age 79 years, Thursday morning around six o'clock. Mr Walters was apparently in best of health and Wednesday walked over his farm. He was feeling well when he went to bed Wednesday night. He was one of the pioneer farmers of this county Mr. Walters was born in Franklin County, Georgia in 1864. He moved to Lucelle community in 1908 where he resided for many years. He later moved to the Hawkins community where he lived for twenty-five years. A few years ago he moved to Blanchard. He had been a faithful member of the Baptist Church since the age of 16 years. Members of his family surviving him include his widow, Mrs Millie Walters; three daughters, Mrs D. B. Massey of Blanchard, Mrs E. B. Carey of Chickaha, Route 3 and Mrs Frank Porter of Amber; two sons, J. H. Walters of Delano, Calif. and Alfred of Blanchard, and 23 gandchildren. Funeral services anre tenatively set for Friday afternoon at the chapel of the Brown Funeral Home, Services to be conducted by Rev. H. P. Haley of Chickasha. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
