All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Verden Cemetery--Verden OK The EXPRESS-STAR Sunday, January 10, 1999 VERNON HASKELL WILLIAMS Graveside services for Vernon Haskell Williams, 81, formerly of Chickasha, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in the Verden Cemetery, with Rev. Johnny Tims of the First Baptist Church officiating. Vernon Haskell Williams was born April 26, 1917, on what was formerly known as the Half Moon Ranch, north of Verden, the son of Oliver B. Williams and Lola B. Lamb Williams. He died Jan. 2, 1999, in Pueblo, Colo. Haskell grew up in Chickasha where he attended Chickasha Public Schools. He enlisted in the Army Air Force sometime in the late 1930s, at Ft. Sill, in what was formerly known as the First Balloon Squadron. He served overseas in Italy during WW II and retired after 25 years as a Master Sergeant, in the U. S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by both parents, stepfather, and one brother, Clifford R. Williams. Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Williams, of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sons, Peter Williams, of Farmington, N. M., and Oliver B. Williams; one grandson, Joshua Williams of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sisters, Beatrice Hamilton and husband, W. K. (Bill) Hamilton and Doloris Muegge, all of Chickasha and several nieces and nephews. We miss him, but we will all be together again.
