He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Williams, former citizens of this vicinity, but who now reside near Chickasha, besides his parents he leaves to mourn his departure, two sisters, two brothers, a number of near relatives and a host of friends. He served his country during the late war over seas being a member of the 6th Div. 11th Field Artillery and was afterwards attached and served with the 89th Div., Field Artillery. He was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows of this place, also a member of the American Legion, both of which orders officiated at his funeral, which was held at the M. E. church. The Rev. Sawyer of Chic kasha preached the funeral sermon, after which one of the largest gathering of people ever witnessed on an occasion of this kind followed the car bearing his body to its last resting place in the city of our silent dead. With a heavy heart we would drop a tear to the memory of Archie Williams. His death has brought the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of friends and relatives. His was a heart of gold. He was of nature's nobelmen in its truest sense, brave, generous, manly. His was the soul of honor, and his friends and friendships were sacred to him. It is sad at any time to stand beside the bed of the dying and watch life's ebbing tide drifting the loved one slowly, perhaps, but surely into the great ocean of eternity, but when there comes whispering from parched lips; "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me," brings a balm to the wounded heart. Thus closed the life of this noble young man. To the broken hearted father, mother, sisters and brothers who sit in sorrow where his footsteps shall never again find echo, we extend the sympathy of one who loved him as a brother. When they have drained the cup may the peace that passeth all understanding come to them from one who cares for each little sparrow that falls. "Fare thee well, oh thou to memory drear! Dust to dust, and lulled to slumber sweet; Sleep on, forever, in the prison drear. But in realms on his shall our spirits meet."
