All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Fairview Cemetery--Tuttle OK Obituary for Amanda Lee Wampler Tuttle Newspaper Sep 1957 Services were held for Mrs. Amanda Lee Wampler, 96, Sep 5, at the Church of Christ. Rev. Sester Stowe of Minco officiated. Mrs. Wampler died Sep 3, at home south of Tuttle, where she had lived since 1903. She came here in 1889, settling first in Silver City, two miles north of Tuttle. she was born in Lamar County, Tex., Jan 15, 1861. Mrs Wampler was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr and Mrs W.W. Patterson, Mr and Mrs Clarence Freeze, Redford Plumlee, Wade Hill, sharon Jones, Mrs Theron Jones, Miss Hada Klippel and Mrs J.C. Stowe sang "In the Garden," "Does Jesus Care," "Last Mile of the Way," and "Shall We Gather at the River." Active Pallbearers were H.H. Wampler of Pocasset, T.J. Mosier of Amber, J.R. Martin and Tommy Novotny, of Chickasha, Monte Wampler of Oklahoma City and George Hauser of San Antonio, Tex. Honorary pallbearers were D.G. Edwards, H.L. McCracken, J.O. Harlon, W.E. Harlon, Bill Bonner, Bill Clark, Frank Cox, Amos Hastings, V.T. Gannaway, J.A. Mosier, H. Jerry Brooks, Wilson Wariner, Walter Webb, Horace Potter, Floyd Kimble, Ben Baker, W.B. Sowers and Clifford Brownon. Survivors are three sons, George Wampler Jr. of Amber, John of Midwest City, and Edgar of Oklahoma City; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Internment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery at Tuttle under the direction of the Sowers Funeral Home.
