Steven Charles Wentz was born Dec. 1, 1960, and died on Thursday, July 17, 2003. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 20 July 2003 STEVEN CHARLES WENTZ Funeral service for Steven Charles Wentz, 42, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2003, at the First Christian Church, Chickasha. Steven Charles Wentz was born December 1, 1960, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Jack and Carol Wentz and died July 17, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Steve grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northwest Classen High School. He graduated from Southern Nazarene University and USAO. Steve moved to Chickasha in 1984. He served as executive director of the United Way of Grady County, was youth pastor of the First Christian Church. He was currently the Minister of Music at the First Christian Church and taught vocal music at the Minco Public Schools. He was active in coaching his children in Little League Baseball and the Chickasha Youth Soccer Association. Steve had many leading roles, including Man of La Mancha and Music Man, in the Chickasha Community Theater and in USAO productions. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Oklahoma Music Educators Association, the American Choral Directors Association, and was a member of the First Christian Church of Chickasha. Steve is survived by: 2 sons: David Wentz of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Christopher Wentz of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and their mother, Laurie Orr Elzo; parents: Mr. & Mrs. Jack Wentz of Oklahoma City; brother and sister- in-law; James and Tina Wentz and their children, Jonathan and Christin; special friends: Jan Hanson and Larry Newman. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Minco Public Schools Vocal Music Fund or the First Christian Church Music Ministry.
