Frances Davis and Ray Anthony were united in marriage on Aug. 2, 1953, in the Ninnekah Baptist Church. Pastor Rev. Maurice B. James performed the ceremony. While on the main island, the Anthonys toured several points of interest, including the Del Monte and Dole pineapple plantations, as well as the sugar cane and coffee tree fields that are no longer in production. They also visited Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, and Punchbowl Cemetery. On Aug. 2, their schedule included a tour of the Polynesian Culture Center and a luau. During the luau, the master of ceremonies recognized the couple for celebrating their 50th anniversary, and invited them to come to the platform and dance while the band played the Hawaiian Wedding Song.
