All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 19 September 2004 BILL & DOROTHY COX COXES TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY Dorothy Harriman and Bill Cox were united in marriage Sept. 18, 1954, in the First Baptist Church parlor. Dorothy is the daughter of the late Burl and Dorothy Harriman of Chickasha, Okla. Bill is the son of the late Luther and Ruby Cox of Ninnekah, Okla. Dorothy graduated from Chickasha High School in 1950. She then went on to graduate from O.C.W. in May 1954 with a degree in vocational home economics. Bill graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1945. He attended Oklahoma A and M for one semester until he was drafted in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Japan for a year and a half. Rev. R. C. Miller united them in marriage. Their attendants were Barbara Harriman, the bride’s sister, and Boyd Cox, the brother of the groom. Kirtsie Kendrick and Sylvia DeHart provided the music. Bill was a Union Bricklayer for 50 years until his retirement. His accomplishments include serving as the state secretary for the Bricklayers Union of Oklahoma, the Little League baseball coach for 12 years, the chairman of the trustees of the First Baptist Church, county chairman of the Democrat Party, and was and still is the chairman of the Ninnekah Reunion Association. Dorothy taught school at Amber for five years, Tuttle for two, and finally Grand Avenue in Chickasha for 18 years. She belongs to the association Kappa Kappa Iota, and served as the enlistment director and treasurer of Oklahoma Retired Educators Association for five years. Bill and Dorothy have three children, Stephen, Mark, and Karen, and two grandchildren, Claris Kathleen Periman, 15, and Ford William Filson, 11. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox request the honor of your presence at the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary celebration. The celebration will be on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004. There will be a ceremony that will begin at 2 p.m., followed by a reception in the parlor of First Baptist Church, 324 W. Colorado Avenue in Chickasha. The family wishes to present Mother and Dad with a keepsake album which will consist of special memories of Bill and Dorothy that you would like to share, please write it down and bring it with you so that we may share that memory with them.
