April 2005 ELMER CONDER & JULIA BARTUCK-CONDER CONDERS TO CELEBRATE 60TH ANNIVERSARY April 9, 2005 marks the 60th wedding anniversary for Elmer Carl Conder and Julia Lenora Bartuck-Conder. These longtime sweethearts met in New York City and married after a two- week courtship 60 years ago. Elmer was an MP in the Army and Julia worked at the YMCA. Elmer and Julia lived and worked in many states before settling in Chickasha, Okla., 25 years ago. Elmer began his career after the Army with Missouri Pacific Railroad as a switchman. After 10 years with the railroad, he decided he could make a better living for his family in sales. This was the beginning of a 50-plus-year career as a car salesman. At the age of 82 he is still selling cars and occasionally you will find him playing a healthy game of golf at the Chickasha Country Club with his many friends. Julia gave birth to their one and only child in 1946. After a few years of motherhood, she worked for Sears, JC Penney and sold jewelry until she retired at the age of 75. She is currently a volunteer at Grady Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. In their spare time they spend time traveling to Texas to visit family, and tending their flower and vegetable gardens. In addition to their daughter, Cheryl Sharp, they have one granddaughter, Natalie Goodwin; one grandson, Christopher Sharp; and three great grandchildren who all live in northern Texas. Elmer and Julia will be celebrating this 60 year union in Southlake, Texas on April 9, 2005 with family and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
