On June 9, 1955, they were united in marriage by Reverend Salter. They moved to Stinnett, Texas, where they lived for 14 years. Clyde worked for Phillips Petroleum for seven years. Shirley started working for Borger Schools in August 1955 and worked there until January 1969. In 1960, their only child, Shelley, was born. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1969 when Clyde started driving for Transcom Freight Lines, a job he loved until his retirement in 1984. Shirley continued her school career working for Amber-Pocasset Schools from 1976 until she retired in 1993. She still assists faithfully at basketball games each year by running the score clock. For the past four years, she has worked at Chickasha Public Schools in the Central Kitchen Department. They both stay very busy doing yard work, helping others no matter what the task or need and enjoying, yes, their morning trips to the coffee shop each day. Over the years they gained a son-in-law, Mark, and two beautiful granddaughters, Ashlie and Meagan. They have had a wonderful, healthy and blessed 50 years, and want to extend a special "thank you" to their precious family and cherished friends who gave of their time Sunday afternoon, to those whom they received cards from, and to those who helped with refreshments and decorations. All this made their celebration fun-filled, memorable and complete. Sixty-six people signed the guest book and they extend their love to all. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
