Mrs. Arnett died last Friday night and was buried in the Pond Creek cemetery, Saturday, at the expense of the county. A husband and six children survive her. The VIDETTE is informed that the family is suffering for the bare necessities of life, and the children cannot attend school on account of having no clothes. Here is a good chance for an Aid society to do what its name implies. The family resides in west Berry Township. Pond Creek Daily Vidette, 21 November 1901 The case of the Arnett family as told in this paper yesterday, created a great deal of talk. The County Superintendent of Health, Dr. Hall, says he knew nothing of the case, except that the woman was waited on by a physician from this city. The VIDETTE has not investigated the matter thoroughly and is not prepared to state whether the family is utterly destitute as reported. It is true, however, that the county clerk ordered the coffin and some time ago gave the woman an order for groceries. These facts would indicate that the unfortunate family are not over-burdened with prosperity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grant County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grant/grant.html
